Dear Parents,
One Day To Go!
Over the last few weeks the generosity of families and friends of the school who have supported our appeal for Promises has overwhelmed us. There have been well over 200 individual promises and each and everyone has been gratefully received.
It would be a gross understatement to say that life has been busy for the organising team; I am indebted to all of them for their commitment to the cause! We have already sold our target of 200 tickets and more are still available for purchase before tomorrow evening’s event.
You should all have received an Auction Booklet yesterday, both in email form and hard copy and as you can see we have a silent auction, balloon prizes in addition to the live auction. Due to the volume of promises we have invited sealed bids for prizes and purchasing of balloons prior to the event for those families who are unable to attend. We have also emailed out a “Buy Now’ sheet today for some selected silent auction items – first come first served.
You can also download the "Buy Now" sheet here.
I hope that everyone has a fantastic evening tomorrow, good company, food, entertainment and fun. Above all there is no greater motivation for getting involved than knowing that every dollar will really help us make a difference for our children. Please join us at the Promise Auction and bid generously…
Junior School Redevelopment
Over the past two days we have been emptying the old Junior Block and Room 13 have been relocating to the Library. We are awaiting final confirmation from the Ministry and then everything is in place for the building project to commence next week.
The first stage will see the old block lifted onto rollers and then relocated through 90 degrees so that it sits alongside Room 10. This phase is expected to take two weeks. Over the holiday we then hope to start the complete refurbishment of this block together with the commencement of the new build, which will include two new classrooms, new toilets, sports storage area and two changing rooms. The builders hope to hand back the old block to us midway through Term 2 and then have the new block ready for Term 3.
There will obviously be some restrictions on play space during the work, in particular the Junior playgrounds will be out of action for the duration of the project.
New PE Uniform – House Shirts and Shorts
Last week you had a notice regarding the new sports uniform. The details of this, and how to order, are to be found elsewhere in the newsletter. What is important to realise is that if you don’t order by next Tuesday (23rd March) you will miss out as we will not be carrying stock in the shop of these items until later in the year. Please get your orders in asap.
Kind regards
Allan Short
Principal
PE UNIFORM
As you will be aware, we are introducing a new PE (Sports) uniform which will become compulsory for all children (Y0-Y6) from term 1, 2011. The uniform comprises dri-fit navy shorts, and a dri-fit top specific to your child's house. We are pleased to let you know that for those of you wishing to buy the new uniform now, this will be available for ordering between Thurs 18 March and Tues 23 March.
For those of you wanting to buy, pre-order of stock will need to be made by the school. You can make an order through our online shop (this will be available from 18 March). Alternatively use the order form linked to the 18 March newsletter, which will also be available at the office. Please note orders must include payment.
We have a set of samples which will be available for children to try on, if you wish to determine sizing. We are planning to have located in the hall, the following series of times that the uniform will be available for trying on and ordering:
Friday 19 March 8.15am - 8.45am 3.00pm - 3.30pm
Monday 22 March 8.15am - 8.45am 3.00pm - 3.30pm
The close-off for this order (including payment) is the 23 March, and no orders will be taken after that date. The school will not be holding stock of these items, and will not be placing another order until later in the year. Exchanges will therefore not be possible, so please ensure that you order the correct colour and size.
For children not purchasing the new uniform until 2011, the existing rules will continue to apply.

Vicky Ave Vikings played against Under 11 talent team and what a great
learning experience for them. Maddi Devereux was great on attack plus
scoring our basket and was awarded Payer of the Day. Fraser Nicholas worked
hard on defence with a couple of good intercepts, great Magic Moment.
VAS Vipers won 14-0 against the St Thomas's Tigers. The team continue to significantly improve their attacking game, particularly their dribbling, shooting and rebounding. William Thompson got Player of the Day for his outstanding offensive play, in which he scored 2 baskets. Josh Kennard got Most Memorable Moment(s) for his offensive play also, in which he scored 5 baskets. Great team effort kids! And great support from the parents!
