Term 3 No 8 - 9 September 2010

Dear Parents
Next Thursday, September 16th, we are holding an Open Day at Victoria Avenue School from 9.00am-12.30pm. We hope that this will be a very informal event but an opportunity for parents and friends to visit the school and classrooms for a short time and see us ‘in action’.
You may very well be aware that there is no such thing as a ‘normal day’ at our school, there are always a large number of activities going on. However all classroom doors will be open and you are invited to wander through the school and see what is happening. I am sure that most parents will want to visit their child’s classroom but feel free to see what goes on in other areas of the school too. Watch a PE lesson; see what is happening in the ICT suite; join in with a jump jam session or just spend time looking at the marvellous displays of children’s work in each and every room.
Whilst your child will be following their normal timetable for the day there are a couple of exceptions for you to note including a special welcome from our youngest children:
Junior Syndicate – Invite guests to Open Day
- 9.00am All junior classes will congregate on steps/concrete area between Room 12/14 and 11/13 to welcome guests
- 9.05am Performances including Greeting songs, dances and Ukuleles
- 9.20am Jump Jam demonstration on either the field or concrete area, depending on the weather
- 9.35am Children and guests to move to classrooms
Middle Syndicate would also like you to know that they have a jump jam
session on the courts 11.00-11.30am
I hope many of you get an opportunity to wander through school next Thursday morning and enjoy looking at some of the wonderful things that happen each and every day.
Kind regards
Allan Short
Principal

Refugee Services need Children's Footwear
One of our parents have brought this to our attention: Refugee Services have lots of children coming and don’t have enough warm footwear for them. (There are 31 kids in the 0-4 age range, and 24 kids in the 5-12 age range).
If you have spare shoes could you please bring them to the school office. Many thanks.

Flippaball Results - Sunday Sept 5th.
A good close game against Balmoral. Plenty of chances for us, but we did not manage to put the ball in the goal enough times. Final score of 4-2 goes down as a loss, however everyone played very well and are really showing that they are getting the hang of the positions. It was great to have Christian back in the pool and I know all the kids were excited to have him involved.
Next Sunday's game is:
4.20pm Balmoral Cyclones versus Victoria Ave
