Dear Parents " Go the extra mile. It's never crowded!" While the extra mile in most places may be sparsely populated, at Victoria Avenue School it is quite the opposite. We are blessed as a school community with staff and parents who are prepared to put in the hard yards to really make a difference to the lives and experiences of our wonderful children. As parents you play a significant role in supporting our school, and in particular our children, in this regard. Parental help in its multitude of forms means more individual attention for our children. Even for your own child, when they see you here at school helping in some way they get the message that they, and their education, are important and special. Over the past week I have had the pleasure of meeting with, and thanking, many of you who have gone, and continue to go, the extra mile for our school. Class Parents, PTS members, Gala Committee, Gardening Team, Directory Committee are just some of the parental groups who really do help make the difference at our school. On behalf of the staff, Board of Trustees, fellow parents and most importantly our children I offer each and everyone who contributes so much, in so many ways, a very large THANK YOU! ERO Report This week the school received our confirmed Education Review Office report. Rob Hamilton previously made comments regarding the contents of the ERO report in his November BOT Newsletter. The final document is now a matter of public record and will appear on the ERO website in two weeks time, however we are now able to share this with our community. Please click here to read the 2011 ERO report. Congratulations Last Thursday evening Jessica Tweedy and Dan Young attended a ceremony to be presented with the 2011 Lions Citizenship award. This was a very proud moment for two of our outstanding Year 6 pupils. We are extremely proud of them and their achievements, congratulations to them both. Parents Survey A reminder to all parents that the 2011 Parents Survey is open for just one more week. Thank you to everyone who has already taken the time to respond (136 parents). Around 20% of the surveys currently logged have only been partially completed so please take the time to return to it and complete the questions if possible. We really do appreciate your feedback and particularly the specific comments which individuals add. If you have yet to participate please do so before next Thursday’s deadline. ATHLETICS ZONES - CONGRATULATIONS! Twenty of our top athletes from Year 5 and 6 represented Victoria Avenue School on Tuesday at Mt Smart Stadium. They competed against 20 other schools in the Remuera Zones Athletics Day. We had some great results and outstanding performances from the squad. Congratulations to all of the competitors.
